Pancreatic Cancer Action (PCA) has one clear vision; a day when everyone survives pancreatic cancer.
- Over 10,000 people (men and women) are diagnosed in the UK each year.
- Pancreatic cancer is the 5th most deadly cancer out of the 10 most common cancers.
- 50% of all diagnoses are made in A&E
- Currently only 8% of people diagnosed survive more than 5 years
- Only 1% of patients will survive beyond 10 years
These statics desperately need to change. While survival rates for other common cancers have improved over the last 50 years, this cannot be said for pancreatic cancer. However, if patients are diagnosed in time for surgery survival increases beyond 12 months by 30%. PCA knows, from disease statistics that early diagnosis is key to survival – our work has a direct impact on diagnosing people sooner….
More about Pancreatic Cancer Action
Pancreatic Cancer Action was founded by Ali Stunt in 2010. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer aged just 41 and was one of the 10% of patients eligible for surgery – she is now a 13-year survivor. She and her team are determined to make the 2020’s the Decade of Change for pancreatic cancer and we’d love for you to join us!
Pancreatic Cancer Action takes action! We carry out the following activities to make sure more people are diagnosed early and have the best chance of survival:
A Awareness - increase public awareness and knowledge of pancreatic cancer and its symptoms to achieve early diagnosis
C Campaign and lobby the government and key stakeholders for change to advance the standard of healthcare for individuals affected by pancreatic cancer
T Train and provide educational resources for our medical and healthcare communities
I Innovative research - we fund it, we support it - to improve early diagnosis and
develop effective treatments to improve pancreatic cancer outcomes
O Offer the provision of practical and emotional support and information to all

N Now – we are the action charity and action is needed more than ever before!
