More about Willow

Founded by former Arsenal goalkeeper and TV presenter, Bob Wilson, and his wife, Megs, Willow is a lasting memorial to their daughter, Anna, who died of cancer aged 31. Anna’s love of life and the enriching experiences of her own Special Days were the charity’s inspiration.

Every day we see young adults who are experiencing the devastating impact that diagnosis, treatment and recovery from a serious illness can bring. At a time in their life that should really be all about living life fully. Our aim is to focus all of our energies and efforts in helping to rectify this, by creating unique and unforgettable Special Days. Thankfully, for many young adults their Day is an opportunity to put much-needed normality back into living, to mark the end of treatment and a new beginning. Sadly for some, it is a last chance to fulfil a dream with the people that really matter. However, for everyone a Special Day is about important shared experiences and the creation of memories to treasure.

Each Special Day provides a positive experience to be shared with a partner, parents, siblings, children or close friends. To date, Willow has provided more than 17,000 Special Days for young adults diagnosed with a life-threatening condition such as cancer, motor neurone disease, cystic fibrosis and Huntington’s disease.

Willow is totally reliant on the generosity of individuals, companies, trusts and foundations to fund its work.
